Fly-in / fly-out
The remote location of iron ore mines in Western Australia means Rio Tinto Iron Ore employees are based in Perth or other regional centres and commute to work by plane, living in on-site villages whilst on shift.
Working in Australia
About ten per cent of our Australian permanent employees live in Perth, where Rio Tinto's Iron Ore group is headquartered, while the majority live in towns in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Find out what it is like to work for us in Australia.
Working in Canada
The Iron Ore Company of Canada operates in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as port facilities located in Sept-Îles, Québec. Find out more about what these cities have to offer.
