Unauthorised use of RIO TINTO trade-marks and names

Recently Rio Tinto became aware of a third party using our well-known RIO TINTO trade-marks or corporate, trade, domain or sub-domain names without authorisation

Recently Rio Tinto became aware of a third party named "Shanghai Rio Tinto Steel CO., LTD" using our well-known RIO TINTO trade-marks or corporate, trade, domain or sub-domain names without authorisation, in particular: (i) on the web site at http://www.riotintosteel.com, (ii) as part of their domain name and email addresses, or (iii) to otherwise lure potential customers and Internet users by enjoining them to visit that web site as well as advertising on sites such as http://web.sugoo.com/1000081535/CN/Contact.htm and http://www.51pipe.com/Shop/CompanyIntroduce.aspx?id=8066 promoting steel products and/or services infringing upon ours.

Rio Tinto is one of the world's leading mining and metals companies and like a number of other companies is subject to organisations or individuals falsely representing themselves to be associated with Rio Tinto without Rio Tinto's knowledge, approval or authorisation.

Rio Tinto has no association with Shanghai Rio Tinto Steel CO., LTD. Any advertising by this company or individuals associated with it using RIO TINTO trade-marks or corporate, trade, domain or sub-domain names is without Rio Tinto's prior knowledge, approval or authorisation.

Rio Tinto strongly urges all prospective customers to check carefully before responding to any advertisements of this nature.
