David Joyce

Managing director, Expansion Projects

David Joyce commenced the role of managing director Expansion Projects in February 2010.

David has been with the Rio Tinto group since 2004, when he joined the iron ore product group to manage the delivery of a number of projects.  Prior to this role, David was general manager Projects and oversaw the implementation of numerous projects to enable the expansion of the Pilbara business to a capacity of 220Mtpa.

Having previously held a variety of roles in the mining industry at WMC Resources and Kinhill, David has worked in Australia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and the United States, across a range of commodities.

David is a member of Rio Tinto's Iron Ore Executive Committee (ExCo), and he holds a Bachelor of Engineering Civil - (Hons) from the University of Adelaide.
