David Peever

Managing director, Australia and Marine

David Peever is the managing director of Rio Tinto in Australia, appointed in November 2009, and the managing director of Marine.

In this joint role David looks after the interests of our business in Australia while working closely with shareholders, governments, regulators and other key stakeholders.

David has been with Rio Tinto for 22 years working in an extensive range of roles including sales and marketing, business analysis, industrial relations, mining operations, continuous improvement and human resources.  He has held a number of senior management positions.

Prior to joining Marine in April 2006, David completed a secondment with BP Shipping and before this he was chief commercial officer for Rio Tinto Borax in California for four years.
