David Smith

Managing Director, Simandou

David Smith is responsible for Rio Tinto Iron Ore's Simandou Project. 

David joined Rio Tinto in 1979 and has held several senior management positions with Comalco Research & Technology, Dampier Salt, Pacific Coal and Rossing Uranium. Most recently, David was responsible for Rio Tinto's Pilbara iron ore operations.

David holds a PhD in Metallurgy and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Metallurgy from the University of New South Wales, Australia.
