Stephan Weber
Managing Director, HIsmelt®
Stephan Weber was appointed Managing Director of HIsmelt Corporation in March 2006. Stephan is responsible for operation of the HIsmelt Kwinana Joint Venture Facility, the world's first commercial HIsmelt plant. This position involves developing and delivering the HIsmelt direct smelting technology to steelmakers throughout the world.
Prior to this role, Stephan was HIsmelt's General Manager of Technology and Operations, overseeing the construction, commissioning and start-up of the HIsmelt Kwinana Facility, as well as recruiting and training the skilled operations team.
Stephan holds a degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Escola de Minas e Metalurgia of the Federal University of Ouro Preto, Brazil (1986) and a Masters Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil (1990).
