Managing Director, Expansion Projects
Since October 2003, Warwick Smith has been the Managing Director of Rio Tinto Iron Ore Expansion Projects.
Warwick is accountable for current mine, rail, port and power expansions in the Pilbara, from resource definition through pre-feasibility and feasibility studies to construction and handover to operations. Expansion Projects also provide support to teams undertaking global expansion studies for Rio Tinto Iron Ore.
Warwick has been with Rio Tinto since 1981 and has enjoyed a variety of senior roles, across product groups and geographic location. These include planning, marketing and sales roles in iron ore, and in the position of Financial Executive within the gold and copper businesses of Rio Tinto.
