Growing our Pilbara
We are investing around $20 billion over the next five years to expand our Pilbara operations by 50 per cent to 360 million tonnes per annum (Mt/a) by 2015.
To reach a 360 Mt/a target requires capacity increases in our coastal areas at Dampier and Cape Lambert and also inland within our mines and rail system.
Port and rail works have already begun at Cape Lambert and Dampier port and of our 14 mines in the Pilbara, four of these - Brockman 4, Western Turner Syncline, Marandoo and Nammuldi1 - are set for expansion. Further mine development opportunities are also being studied. Please click here for a map of the Pilbara region and the location of proposed and approved expansion activities.
